In Bethesda, the Bayou Is Back - By Julia Beizer
Washington Post Staff Writer

"At a glance: When it opened in October, Louisiana Kitchen & Bayou Bar enjoyed a luxury most restaurants do not: a built-in fan base. The eatery is a descendant of the late Louisiana Express Company, a beloved Bethesda fixture that closed in March 2008. Before Louisiana Express owner Peter Finkhauser passed away in June of that year, he entrusted his recipes to longtime employees Carlos Arana and Jose Blanco and helped them scout out a new space for a Cajun-Creole restaurant of their own."

New name, but Cajun Creole cuisine's the same
"Bethesda's Louisiana Express is back, sort of.  The beloved restaurant, know for its rotisserie chicken and its marriage of Cajun and Creole cuisine, may have moved across Old Georgetown Road and been renamed the Louisiana Kitchen and Bayou Bar, but rest assured the menu and its chefs are one and the same.  And although the prices have nudged up just a bit, they are reasonable by Bethesda standards."

After four years of 85-plus hour workweeks, New Orleans Bistro chef and owner Kevin Scott handed the keys to his Cordell Avenue space in Bethesda to a team from Louisiana Express

Louisiana Express is Alive Again!
It's now called "Louisiana Kitchen and Bayou Bar".   Same great food, same menu, many familiar faces. It just a few blocks away in Bethesda at 4907 Cordell.

"Seafood gumbo and spicy fries make a meal that I just crave...."

Gayot("Guy-OH") - The Guide to the Good Life
"The revamped Louisiana Kitchen & Bayou Bar is now situated in this Bethesda location with its original kitchen staff manning the place - and you'll be happy to taste again the rich gumbos and hefty po' boys."

"This place buzzes with conversation and clinking cutlery as folks tuck into their crawfish bisques, muffulettas (cold cuts, cheeses and relish sandwich), gumbo stews and jambalayas."
